The eight races will take place under the supervision of Edwin Lodder (race - leader of the Ronde on Texel). There are two races per day (except on Wednesday Rest Day), plus a semi long distance and a long distance race along the white beaches and through the mighty lagoons than surround the island.
The results are calculated using the ISAF SCHRS handicap scheme and the fleet is spit into fleets a fast and slow handicap with all boats starting together. Daily prizes are issued to the 1st three in each category. A wide variety of boats are sailed including Hurricane 5.9, Tornado, Nacra Inter 18 & 20, Nacra 6.0, Dart 18, Hawk, Storm F20, Spitfire, Hobie Tiger and various other Hobies and Prindles.
The competitors vary in ability from those new to the sport to World Champions and everyone enjoys the close racing and camaraderie of all the nationalities taking part. The races tend to last approximately one hour with the exception of the long distance race and are held close to the beach, providing excellent spectating for the non sailors and public watching from the beach.
Rescue cover is provided by Aruba Watersports, with 4 rescue boats and ensure everyone competing on the water returns home safely after each days racing as well as providing first aid cover to deal with any minor injuries.
